    Faith Story:

    Horatio Spafford lost nearly everything—his business in the Great Chicago Fire and later, his four daughters in a tragic shipwreck. When he sailed across the same waters where their lives were lost, he penned these words:

    “When peace like a river, attendeth my way,

    When sorrows like sea billows roll;

    Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say,

    It is well, it is well with my soul.”

    That’s the fruit of peace—a peace not dependent on circumstance, but on Christ.

    Peace is not the absence of trouble; it’s the presence of righteousness. When the heart is right with God, the storms outside cannot steal the calm within. True peace is planted when we sow forgiveness, patience, and trust—and its harvest blesses everyone around us.

    Key Verse:

    “By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually,

    that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.”

    — Hebrews 13:15

    Rooted Truth:

    A righteous heart produces righteous words—words of praise, gratitude, and truth.

    Faith Story:

    Corrie ten Boom, who survived the horrors of a Nazi concentration camp, once said:

    “There is no pit so deep that God’s love is not deeper still.”

    Even in the darkest conditions, she and her sister Betsie were known for singing hymns of praise. When asked how they could possibly rejoice in such suffering, Corrie answered, “Because Jesus is worthy, not because the circumstance is.”

    That’s the fruit of the lips—praise that flows from faith, not feeling. It’s gratitude rooted in God’s goodness, not in our situation. When our hearts are grounded in righteousness, our lips overflow with worship instead of worry, blessing instead of bitterness.

    Our words reveal the tree we belong to. If the root is Christ, the fruit will be praise.

    Good works don’t earn salvation—they reveal it.

    Faith Story:

    When William Booth founded the Salvation Army in 1865, he faced criticism for focusing on the physical and spiritual needs of the poor. Yet he famously replied,

    “Faith and works should travel side by side—step answering to step—as the legs of men walking.”

    Booth’s compassion wasn’t born out of social duty, but out of righteousness. His faith compelled him to action. That’s what it means to bear the fruit of good works—to allow the life of Christ within us to overflow into acts of love, generosity, and service.

    True righteousness always moves. It serves. It helps. It gives.

    When the famous preacher Charles Spurgeon was once asked how to recognize a true Christian, he replied:

    “The fruit of the Spirit is the only infallible test of life within.”

    It’s easy to display religious activity—church attendance, service, words—but the true evidence of righteousness is character. The fruit of the Spirit is not something we manufacture; it’s something God produces when we abide in Him.

    True repentance doesn’t just confess sin—it changes direction and bears visible fruit.

    Faith Story:

    When revival broke out in Ephesus (Acts 19:18–20), many who had practiced sorcery brought their scrolls together and burned them publicly. The value of what they destroyed was immense—yet they counted it joy to turn fully to Christ.

    That’s repentance bearing fruit.

    John the Baptist didn’t call for empty words of sorrow—he called for transformation: “Bring forth fruits meet for repentance.” Real repentance produces action. It looks like humility, restitution, and renewed obedience.

    It’s not a moment—it’s a movement of the heart that changes everything.

    A righteous life doesn’t grow from effort—it grows from abiding in Christ.

    Faith Story:

    Hudson Taylor, missionary to China, once became so overwhelmed by the work that he confessed, “I was striving to bear fruit, forgetting that the fruit comes from abiding.”

    He later discovered the peace and power of resting fully in Christ. From that moment, his ministry flourished—not because he worked harder, but because he learned to abide deeper.

    Just as a branch draws life from the vine, we draw strength, purity, and righteousness from Christ alone. When we abide in Him—through prayer, obedience, and communion—fruit naturally follows. Apart from Him, even our best intentions wither.

    When repentance breaks the ground and righteousness is sown, holiness becomes the harvest.

    Faith Story:

    The Welsh Revival of 1904 began in a small prayer meeting where believers cried out, “Bend us, O Lord!” They weren’t asking for blessings or fame—they were asking for holiness.

    Within months, entire towns were transformed. Taverns closed, debts were repaid, and families were restored. Police officers reported having little to do—except help manage the crowds gathering for prayer. The Spirit had rained righteousness upon a people prepared to receive it.

    The true evidence of revival isn’t emotion—it’s transformation. Holiness is the fruit of a heart revived by God’s Spirit. When we live daily surrendered to Him, our lives become living testimonies of His grace and power.

  • Friday, October 17, 2025–Break Up The Fallow Ground: Break Up The Fallow Ground

    Key Verse:

    “For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem,

    Break up your fallow ground,

    and sow not among thorns.”

    — Jeremiah 4:3

    Rooted Truth:

    God can’t plant new life in soil that remains unbroken. The heart must be tilled before it can be filled.

    Faith Story:

    When revival swept through Wales in 1904, a young preacher named Evan Roberts urged the people with four simple words:

    “Confess every known sin.”

    He knew that true revival doesn’t start in crowds—it starts in the hidden places of the heart. Like fallow ground—soil once fertile but now hardened by neglect—our hearts must be broken open before the seed of God’s Word can take root again.

    Breaking up fallow ground is painful—it exposes what’s been buried under layers of pride, distraction, or sin. But this is the mercy of God. He plows not to destroy but to restore. He wounds in order to heal.

    When we allow His Spirit to break the crust of indifference and bring conviction, that’s where revival begins.

    “Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy;

    break up your fallow ground:

    for it is time to seek the LORD,

    till he come and rain righteousness upon you.”

    — Hosea 10:12

    Rooted Truth:

    When the ground is ready, God sends the rain—and His righteousness refreshes everything it touches.

    Faith Story:

    During a severe drought in the early 1900s, a group of farmers gathered to pray for rain. As they bowed their heads, one young girl quietly walked in carrying an umbrella. When asked why, she replied, “Didn’t we come to ask God for rain?”

    That’s faith—and expectancy.

    The prophet Hosea paints a picture of revival: broken ground, prepared soil, and then rain from heaven. The rain of righteousness is God’s gracious response to hearts that have turned back to Him. It represents His Spirit, His blessing, His renewal.

    You can’t manufacture revival, but you can prepare for it. When hearts are tilled, sin is confessed, and Christ is exalted—He sends the rain.

  • Wednesday, October 15, 2025–Break Up The Fallow Ground: Removing The Thorns

    Key Verse:

    “For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem,

    Break up your fallow ground,

    and sow not among thorns.”

    — Jeremiah 4:3

    Rooted Truth:

    God’s Word cannot flourish in a heart tangled by thorns. To grow in righteousness, the weeds must go.

    Faith Story:

    In Jesus’ Parable of the Sower, the seed that fell among thorns began to grow—but it was choked out by “the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things.” (Mark 4:19)

    John Wesley, founder of the Methodist revival, often warned believers not just about sin, but spiritual clutter. He said,

    “Whatever cools my affection for Christ, that is the world.”

    Thorns aren’t always evil things—they’re often good things that grow out of control: busyness, distraction, pride, or comfort. Left untended, they choke out the voice of God and rob the soil of fruit.

    The call of Jeremiah is clear: Sow not among thorns. Pull up anything that competes with your devotion to Christ.
