Key Verse:
“Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.”
— Deuteronomy 31:6
Rooted Truth:
Courageous faith stands firm because God’s presence is greater than any opposition.
Faith Story:
Opposition can test the courage of even the strongest believer.
There are moments when following God places us at odds with the expectations of others. Standing for truth may invite criticism. Choosing integrity may bring resistance. Remaining faithful to Christ can sometimes feel like walking against the current of the world around us.
The people of Israel faced such a moment as they prepared to enter the Promised Land. Before them lay uncertainty and formidable enemies. The journey ahead seemed overwhelming.
Yet Moses spoke words that have strengthened generations of believers:
“Be strong and of a good courage… for the LORD thy God… will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.”
Their courage was not based on their own strength or strategy. It rested on the assurance of God’s presence.
When opposition arises, it is easy to focus on the size of the challenge. Fear magnifies obstacles until they appear insurmountable. But faith redirects our vision. It reminds us that the One who walks with us is greater than anything that stands against us.
Courage grows when we remember that we are never alone in the path of obedience. God’s presence steadies our hearts and gives us the strength to move forward with confidence.
Opposition may come, but it does not define the outcome. The faithful presence of God does.
Scripture for Deeper Roots:
Psalm 27:1 – “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?”
Isaiah 41:13 – “For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand…”
Romans 8:31 – “If God be for us, who can be against us?”
Daily Practice:
When you encounter resistance or discouragement today, pause and remind yourself:
“God is with me.”
Let that truth guide your response.
Daily Prayer:
Faithful God, when opposition rises, help me remember that You are with me. Give me courage to stand firm in faith and trust Your presence more than my fears.
Amen.
Deep Reflection:
• When have you faced opposition because of your faith?
• How does remembering God’s presence strengthen your courage?
• What situation today requires you to trust God’s presence more fully?
