Key Verse:
“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man:
but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able;
but will with the temptation also make a way to escape,
that ye may be able to bear it.”
— 1 Corinthians 10:13
Rooted Truth:
Temptation is not a sign of weakness—
but God’s faithfulness is your strength to overcome it.
Faith Story:
During the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge, powerful winds constantly swept across the span, threatening to blow workers off balance.
Rather than halt progress, engineers installed safety nets beneath the bridge.
The result?
Productivity increased—and fatal falls dropped dramatically.
Temptation works similarly.
We walk in places where the winds of the enemy blow fiercely.
But God has placed a safety net of faithfulness under every believer.
Paul reminds us of three unshakable truths about temptation:
1️⃣ You’re not alone.
“Such as is common to man…”
Every believer faces the same battles—
you’re not the only one fighting this fight.
2️⃣ God is faithful.
He will not allow the weight of temptation to exceed the strength He supplies.
3️⃣ There is always a way of escape.
Not sometimes.
Always.
Temptation never comes without an exit door—
a Scripture,
a prayer,
a friend,
a boundary,
a conviction,
a warning,
a prompting from the Spirit.
Temptation may knock,
but it cannot overpower a believer built on the Rock.
Your strength is not in willpower—
it’s in God’s faithfulness.
Scripture for Deeper Roots:
James 4:7 – “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
Psalm 119:11 – “Thy word have I hid in mine heart…”
Hebrews 2:18 – “…He is able to succor them that are tempted.”
Daily Practice:
Identify your greatest area of temptation right now.
Ask God to reveal both the warning signs and the way of escape.
Then take one concrete action to guard that area (a boundary, accountability, Scripture, or habit).
Daily Prayer:
Lord, thank You for Your faithfulness in every temptation.
Strengthen me to resist the enemy,
to choose obedience,
and to recognize the escape You provide.
Help me stand firm on the Rock
and walk in victory through Your power.
Amen.
Deep Reflection:
• What triggers or patterns often lead you into temptation?
• What “escape route” has God provided that you may be overlooking?
• How can you guard your heart more intentionally this week?
