Key Verse:
“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them,
I will liken him unto a wise man,
which built his house upon a rock.”
— Matthew 7:24
Rooted Truth:
A life built on Christ and His Word will stand firm—no matter the storm, crisis, or season.
Faith Story:
In the 1800s, the famous lighthouse at Bell Rock off the Scottish coast was completed.
What made it remarkable wasn’t just its height or engineering—but its foundation.
Bell Rock is built on solid stone.
When storms rage, waves slam it with the force of a freight train.
Yet for over 200 years, that lighthouse has stood unmoved.
Why?
Because its foundation cannot be shaken.
This is the picture Jesus gives in Matthew 7.
Two houses.
Two builders.
Two storms.
One stood. One fell.
The difference wasn’t the weather.
The difference wasn’t the materials.
The difference wasn’t the location.
The difference was the foundation.
When we build our lives on Christ—His words, His ways, His truth—we stand firm when others collapse.
Storms don’t expose the strength of the house…
They expose the strength of the foundation.
Your foundation is not your feelings.
Not your past.
Not your success.
Not your works.
Not your routine.
Your foundation is Jesus Christ alone—the Rock that never moves.
Scripture for Deeper Roots:
1 Corinthians 3:11 – “For other foundation can no man lay… than Jesus Christ.”
Psalm 18:2 – “The LORD is my rock, and my fortress…”
Isaiah 28:16 – “…a sure foundation; he that believeth shall not make haste.”
Daily Practice:
Take 3–5 minutes today to declare out loud:
“Lord, You are my Rock and my Foundation. My life is built on You.”
Write down one area of life you need to fully ground on Christ—finances, marriage, identity, decisions, or spiritual habits.
Daily Prayer:
Lord, You are my Rock—the foundation of my life.
Help me build everything on You: my thoughts, my choices, my priorities, my future.
Strengthen my faith so that when storms come, I stand firm.
Let my life rest secure on the unshakable Christ.
Amen.
Deep Reflection:
• What have you been tempted to build your life on besides Christ?
• Which storms in your life have revealed the strength (or weakness) of your foundation?
• What would it look like to build every part of your life on Jesus?
