Monday, November 17, 2025–Living God With All Your Heart: Undivided Affection

Key Verse:

“Teach me thy way, O LORD;

I will walk in thy truth:

unite my heart to fear thy name.”

— Psalm 86:11

Rooted Truth:

A divided heart cannot love God fully. God calls us to a united, singular devotion that puts Him above every competing affection.

Faith Story:

David prayed, “Unite my heart to fear Thy name.”

Why?

Because even a king after God’s own heart knew how easily the heart can fracture.

One part wants God.

One part wants comfort.

One part wants approval.

One part wants control.

One part wants sin.

A divided heart tries to love God while still clinging to other loves. But divided affections always weaken devotion.

In ancient Israel, God’s people tried to worship Him and keep their idols too. The result? They had the forms of religion but not the fire of relationship.

Jesus made it clear:

“No man can serve two masters.” — Matthew 6:24

Undivided affection is not perfection—it is direction.

It’s a heart that says:

“Lord, I want to want You.

Make my whole heart Yours.”

The fire of love burns brightest where the heart is whole, not split.

Scripture for Deeper Roots:

James 4:8 – “…purify your hearts, ye double minded.”

Jeremiah 29:13 – “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”

Psalm 119:10 – “With my whole heart have I sought thee…”

Daily Practice:

Ask the Lord to show you one area of divided affection — a habit, desire, or priority that competes with your love for Him.

Write it down.

Then surrender it to Him in prayer, asking Him to “unite your heart.”

Daily Prayer:

Lord, unite my heart.

Pull together every scattered love, every divided loyalty, every competing desire.

Make my heart whole and wholly Yours.

Teach me to love You above every other affection.

Amen.

Deep Reflection:

• What competes most for your affection toward God right now?

• How would your relationship with God change if your heart were fully united?

• What practical step can you take today to guard your devotion?
