Key Verse:
“That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing,
being fruitful in every good work,
and increasing in the knowledge of God.”
— Colossians 1:10
Rooted Truth:
Good works don’t earn salvation—they reveal it.
Faith Story:
When William Booth founded the Salvation Army in 1865, he faced criticism for focusing on the physical and spiritual needs of the poor. Yet he famously replied,
“Faith and works should travel side by side—step answering to step—as the legs of men walking.”
Booth’s compassion wasn’t born out of social duty, but out of righteousness. His faith compelled him to action. That’s what it means to bear the fruit of good works—to allow the life of Christ within us to overflow into acts of love, generosity, and service.
True righteousness always moves. It serves. It helps. It gives.
When we walk worthy of the Lord, the fruit of good works becomes the fragrance of our faith.
Scripture for Deeper Roots:
Ephesians 2:10 – “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works…”
Titus 3:8 – “…that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works.”
James 2:17 – “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.”
Daily Practice:
Ask God to show you one practical way to demonstrate His love today—an act of service, encouragement, or generosity that reflects His character. Don’t wait for a big moment—start small and faithful.
Daily Prayer:
Lord, let my faith bear fruit in action. Make my hands ready to serve, my words ready to encourage, and my heart ready to give. May my good works point others to Your goodness and bring glory to Your name. Amen.
Deep Reflection:
• How can your faith become more visible through your actions this week?
• What hinders you from serving or giving more freely?
• How might “fruitful good works” look in your home, workplace, or community?
