Key Verse:
“So the people shouted, and the trumpets were blown. As soon as the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted a great shout, and the wall fell down flat…”
— Joshua 6:20
Rooted Truth:
God tears down the walls that stand in the way of His purposes.
Faith Story:
The walls of Jericho were thick, fortified, and humanly impossible to breach. Yet God instructed Joshua and Israel to march silently for six days and then shout on the seventh. Their obedience, paired with God’s power, brought the walls down.
Hudson Taylor, who pioneered missions in inland China, often faced “walls” of opposition, lack of funds, and danger. Yet he declared:
“There are three stages in every great work of God: first, it is impossible, then it is difficult, then it is done.”
When we trust and obey, God does what only He can—walls fall.
Scripture for Deeper Roots:
2 Corinthians 10:4 – “For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.”
Psalm 18:29 – “For by you I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall.”
Ephesians 2:14 – “For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall…”
Daily Practice:
Think about a “wall” in your life—fear, doubt, sin, or circumstance. Pray and surrender it to God. Choose one step of obedience today, even if it seems small, and trust Him for the breakthrough.
Daily Prayer:
Lord, You are the One who brings walls crashing down. Tear down every barrier in my life that keeps me from walking fully in Your will. Help me to trust and obey, even when the instructions don’t make sense. Amen.
Deep Reflection:
• What walls—spiritual, emotional, or circumstantial—are standing in your way?
• How do faith and obedience work together to bring victory?
• What would it look like to march forward in trust, even before the walls fall?
