Sunday, July 27, 2025–Walking in Wisdom: The Foundation of Wisdom

Key Verse:

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.”

— Proverbs 9:10

Rooted Truth:

True wisdom begins not with intellect or experience—but with reverence for God.

Faith Story:

Billy Graham, one of the most influential evangelists of the 20th century, often said that the key to his life and ministry was fearing the Lord. He once remarked:

“Knowledge is horizontal. Wisdom is vertical—it comes down from above.”

In every decision—whether speaking before world leaders or praying with a farmer—he lived in humble awe of God’s authority. That reverence was the secret to his unwavering clarity and godly insight.

Scripture for Deeper Roots:

James 1:5 – “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God…”

Psalm 111:10 – “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom…”

Proverbs 3:5–6 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart…”

Daily Practice:

Take 5 quiet minutes today to sit before God in stillness. Ask Him to give you a heart that fears Him above all else—and to plant wisdom deep in your soul.

Daily Prayer:

Lord, teach me to walk in reverent awe of who You are. Let my life be built on the foundation of fearing You—not people, outcomes, or uncertainty. Give me wisdom from above. Amen.

Deep Reflection:

What does it mean to fear the Lord in your daily life?

How is wisdom different from knowledge?

Where in your life do you need wisdom right now?
