Saturday, July 26, 2025–Faith Over Feeling: His Word Is Greater Than My Waves

Key Verse:

“He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed.”

— Psalm 107:29

Rooted Truth:

Your storm does not silence God’s voice—His voice silences your storm.

Faith Story:

Charles Spurgeon, often called the “Prince of Preachers,” battled deep depression throughout his life. One night during a church service, someone shouted “Fire!” and the stampede killed seven people. Spurgeon never fully recovered emotionally.

Yet in his suffering, he preached:

“I have learned to kiss the wave that throws me against the Rock of Ages.”

Even when emotions raged, Spurgeon let the Word of God steady him. He didn’t wait to feel better—he believed better.

Scripture for Deeper Roots:

Mark 4:39 – “Peace! Be still!”

Isaiah 43:2 – “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you.”

Psalm 46:1–3 – “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

Daily Practice:

What wave are you riding today—fear, grief, anxiety? Write out a truth from God’s Word to speak directly to it. Say it aloud.

Daily Prayer:

Jesus, thank You that You still speak peace to storms. My feelings may shout, but Your voice calms. Help me hear You above the waves. Amen.

Deep Reflection:

What storm are you currently facing?

How have your feelings shifted in the middle of it?

What would it look like to fully trust God’s voice over your own?
