Key Verse:
“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”
— 2 Timothy 1:7
Rooted Truth:
Fear may rise, but it doesn’t have to rule—God’s peace disarms panic and fills us with courage.
Faith Story:
Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the German pastor and theologian who opposed the Nazi regime, faced arrest, imprisonment, and ultimately execution for his convictions. Yet, while imprisoned, he wrote letters full of peace, hope, and strength. In one, he declared:
“We must be ready to allow ourselves to be interrupted by God.”
He wasn’t unafraid—but he was anchored. Bonhoeffer believed fear could never have the final word because Christ already had the victory. God’s Spirit within him replaced fear with peace, power, and love—even in the darkest hour.
Scripture for Deeper Roots:
Psalm 56:3–4 – “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you… What can flesh do to me?”
Isaiah 41:13 – “I am the Lord your God… who says to you, ‘Fear not, I am the one who helps you.’”
John 14:1 – “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.”
Daily Practice:
Write down a fear or worry that’s been heavy on your heart. Ask the Holy Spirit to replace it with His peace, power, and love. Speak this truth aloud: “God has not given me a spirit of fear.”
Daily Prayer:
Father, when fear rises up, fill me with the peace of Your presence. Strengthen me with courage that comes not from myself but from You. Help me walk in love, not anxiety. I trust You. Amen.
Deep Reflection:
Where does fear show up most in your daily life?
What truth can you speak over that fear today?
Who in your life needs to be reminded that peace is greater than panic?
